The origins of the town date back to ancient times, in fact were found some archaeological findings around proving that the area was already inhabited in Roman times, probably by people of kindred frentana. Starting from the year 1000 there was a succession of domination by various baronies, including Borrello and DiSangro. The most important Church of the town is dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Bari, followed, in order of importance by the churches of Madonna in Basilica and Madonna del Rosario. Continuing the walk at the small village of Abruzzo, there are several palaces to visit and the characteristic rock, commonly called "the pen", in sandstone, limestone and clay, overlooking the town.
