The Museum dedicated to the cooks is the only one in Italy of its kind, perhaps it is also of the whole world. It is the expression of a grounded tradition at Villa Santa Maria, which fame has by now reached not only Abruzzo's borders, but of the same Italy; in fact the great culinary skills of cooks from Villa Santa Maria are by now well known at an international level, that there is no class restaurant- we can say- that doesn't aspire to have in front of their stove some of them.
The fomation of this category takes place in the local Hotelier Professional Institute, that takes care of every detail with the techno-pratical preparation of its students.
The Museum of Cooks is a realization that wants to document and disseminate the culinary tradition of the town. There are exposed documents and images that illustrate concretely the work done by the chefs of the villese school in hotels and in the most famous restaurants of the world, in the homes of nobles and of major members of culture and science. The most significant events of these famous cooks are represented in a series of illustrative panels, collected in eieght subjects that follow a sort of historical itinerary; precisely: "the ancient origins of culinary art in the Valle del Sangro", "Maccaronari, Pastari and Chefs", "Munzù's at the service of the noble and prestigious families", The cooks at the service of history", "The Chefs that have conquered the world", The business cooks", The tradition becomes School", "The kitchen and art". Every year, in october, at Villa Santa Maria a characteristic event is held, the Rassegna of Chefs, in which the visitors can taste the delicious dishes prepared by chefs.
