Welcome to Civitella Messer Raimondo
The small town of CivitellaMesserRaimondo stands on a spur overlooking the Verde River, a tributary of the Aventino. SincePaleolithic times it is certainly inhabited thanks to the discovery of cave paintings. But the discovery of a thermal building, lets imagine that even the Romans, as many wealthy families, chose this tiny village of Abruzzo in the middle ages, making it their fiefdom by building the Castle. The Castle is still visible today, is also known as the Palace of the counts Baglioni, is one of the town's main attractions, along with the Gattone Palace and the Church of Santissimo Salvatore of the thirteenth century and recently renovated. The town of CivitellaMesserRaimondo is a frequent destination of tourists thanks to the presence of the Rafting Centre of Abruzzo, the only one in Central Italy, which allows a descent, even for the less experienced on the Aventine river.
