Welcome to Borrello
The town of Borrello is placed on a hill halfway up and dominates the Sangro River Valley. The country took its name from the Earl Borrello, descended from a family of Franks settled in Italy. Of a previous period, however, are other traces which show that the first houses are from pre-Roman times, for this reason it is a fortified village. In fact, even today is still visible a small part of the ancient Portasaracina, the only entrance to the first conurbation, perched on a mountain. There are stille visible some remains of the Castle and the Baronial Palace of the ancient medieval village. Of later ages are the churches of Sant’Egidio and Sant'Antonio, Mazzarano Palace and various fountains. To visit for nature, wellness and relaxation lovers immersed in the woods there are, "Cascatedel Verde" (green waterfalls), the highest of the Apennines and second in Italy.
