Welcome to Rosello
The small town of Rosello is an authentic ancient village of Italy of medieval origin, and is located at the slope of a cliff overlooking the entire Valley of Sangro, between Verde and Turcano torrents. The first settlements seem to date back to the Benedictine monks of the Abbey of San Giovanni in Verde, already in the early middle ages. But it was not until the 12th century a real documentation. It is also known that gradually, the town began to develop around a control tower at the top of a rocky hill, as a fortified village. This tower, unfortunately has come down to us only in a few ruins, consisting of a semicircular masonry structure surrounded by a fence , from which to enjoy a great panoramic view. Along with the remains of the ancient tower there is the small church of St. Nicholas, built in the 16th century, unfortunately today without the original decorations. Leaving the village there is the hamlet of Giuliopoli, where stands the Castle and the Church of Saint Thomas, and the Abetina of Rosello, where to visit the remains of the Abbey of Saint John in Verde. The forest owned by the municipality of Rosello, within a short walk from the town centre, is part of the Regional Natural Reserve of Abetina of Rosello.
