Welcome to Lettopalena
The town of Lettopalena stands on a rocky hill of the right bank of the Aventino rive and its territory extends foro 20.97 km ². This village of Abruzzo is of medieval origin, in fact, around the year 1000 some Benedictine monks built an Abbey, which thanks to the favourable position, saw in the centuries to follow the development of the country right around it. The whole country was literally razed to the ground by the Germans in World War II to try to block the Allied Forces coming from the Aventino river. By German destruction proof are the remains of the church dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Bari, dating back the 12th century. For religious tourism lovers it is possible, fortunately, to visit the Church of Santa Maria in Monte Planizio, from the 16th century. The summer of the town of Lettopalena comes alive thanks to the local Feast dedicated to San VincenzoFerreri and the Madonna dell’Assunta the first Sunday of August, and the Festival of Aventino, always in August. For nature lovers instead Lettopalena has a picnic area in Abruzzo called "Fonte della noce" where to go with the family.
