Welcome to Colledimacine
The town of Colledimacine, with the Majella massif on the back, stands on a hill that rises between the Cupo and Torbido creeks, tributaries of the Aventino river. Penetrating among the narrow streets, you will discover the ancient parish church which is located immediately beside the rectory; the same has been obtained by adjusting the building of a medieval church. On the other side of the church stands the palazzoBarbolani, residence of homonyms barons, built at the end of 700 on the ruins of the medieval castle. The feast of San Mariano, which takes place on the August 11, constitutes an additional source of attraction for a place so rich in history and tradition. The village of Colledimacine has probably a Roman origin, but this is an attribution rebuilt in retrospect, considering the fact that the documentation is pretty poor. The first mention of the village out of historical document dates back to the 13th century.
