This museum aims to let people meet our beloved Marsican bear, to know it and protect it. The visit to the museum can be matched with a hike along one of the paths, in order to experience the environment of the brown bear and look for signs of its presence. The Marsican Brown Bear Museum of the Majella Park, located in a wing of the former monastery of S. Antonio, also features a fascinating reproduction of the forest at night. The display is more educational than scientific (an interactive wall attracts both kids and adults) and describe the bear’s lifestyle and features, history, extinction risks and projects for its conservation. Moreover, the facility is enriched by an audio-visual room where images of the bear and the whole Park are projected.
