The ancient origins of Paglieta are visible in the numerous archaeological relics, including the remains from the Italic and Roman periods and some examples of Medieval architectural. Erected near the town walls, the Torre della Porta tower is one of the symbols of Paglieta. The tower that began as a bell tower and the clock, incorporated an ancient gateway for access to the ancient town – the gateway giving the tower its name. The building was constructed in the 18th century on an existing structure of medieval origin that included the gateway into the town. At the beginning of the 1900s a tower with an iron support for the bells was created. The structure is made entirely of brick it is divided horizontally into three parts. The doorway, according to a custom employed all across the region is framed by an ogival arch on the external side of the ancient town and by a round arch on the internal side. In the central area there is a rectangular opening towards the exterior and a room with access stairs near the tower towards the interior. The above area has round arched openings with the bells positioned inside.
