Located on the green hills that look out over the Sangro valley, Mozzagrogna is surrounded by countryside cultivated with vines and olive groves. The Church of Maria Santissima della Vittoria is located at the heart of the old centre. The church’s construction began in 1855 as can be noted on the inscription inside the church. The works were not completed, however, and the construction was continued in 1889 thanks to the benefactor Paolo Masciangelo following his return from America, and concluded some years later. The building was gravely damaged by the events of the Second World War and was restored in 1952 thanks to the donations from the faithful and also assistance from the state finances. The façade has a tympanum and is subdivided into three parts through four lesenes. The main entrance sits beneath a lunette. To the right of the church is a bell tower divided into three floors. The interior of the single hall is divided into 6 bays with groined vaulted ceilings on pilasters. At the entrance there is a gallery supported by two couples of small pilasters in a Doric style that support the three arches. The walls house niches with statues inside, above these are semi circular windows. On the altar wall there are large Doric lesenes.
