Known as the church of the Madonna dell’ Assunta, the building of the Santa Maria della Selva church dates back to the 14th century but the structure was first documented in the mid 16th century. At the beginning of the 18th century the church was completely renovated and reopened on the 25th May 1728, by the Marquiss Crognale as can be seen on an inscription on the main facade. On the 15th January 1882 was Pope Pio VII appointed the Church as a holy sanctuary. The Shrine of Assunta is also known for the “miracle of the rain”. In the spring of 1893 due to the enduring drought the farmers organized some processions, once they reached the sanctuary during the sacred rights, water began to fall from above and in the following days it began to rain. The façade is made of brick and is divided into two parts by a double set of stone piers – or square bottomed columns, the entrance is also made of stone. On the first level there are columns with capitals that recall the Tuscanico style. A pyramidal staircase provides access to the church. Above the baroque style entrance, crowned with a curved tympanum, opens up to a large rectangular window. The lateral façades are plastered and the lower parts give way to some arches in perforated brick belonging to the structure of the primitive church. The richly decorated interior is a single nave structure with groin vaults and a dome. The sidewalls are punctuated by a series of niches that house baroque altars and paintings. The apse, behind the main altar has luxurious decorations. Of particular note are a wooden polychrome sculpture dating back to the 15th century showing the virgin on the throne with child, which in spite of some rough restoration and woodworm damage is still in reasonably good condition.  On the right of the building is the bell tower created on four levels.
