A stroll around the town of Treglio is like walking around a stunning open-air museum on a voyage of continuous discovery. Treglio, a small town on the Trabocchi coast, is full of little surprises. In the historic centre between narrow streets and winding corners there are houses and palazzi with frescoed facades that make the old centre a surreal location to visit. This small town of medieval origin situated between the coast and the city of Lanciano has for some years been the permanent workshop for frescoes, attracting artists from all over the world. The fresco school of painting is open to anyone and the director is Maestro Vico Calabrò di Caldogno. Each year and for one week the event “Treglio affrescata” takes place hosting pupils, professors, artists and enthusiasts for this ancient Italian artistic technique. Currently around twenty frescoes – genuine works of art- decorate the small centre, which each year embellishes a new work within its charming open air ‘museum’. Treglio has transformed itself from a small town to the genuine world capital of fresco painting.
