Along the way of Corso Umberto I of Palena lies the Town Theatre, originally called "Aventino". It was built in the mid-nineteenth century, like many other buildings of its kind in various parts of Abruzzo: they were spaces dedicated to art, music, culture in general, and at the same time places for meeting and socialization. Due to the earthquake of 1984, the theater of Palena suffered heavy damage, so it was necessary to rebuild 'from scratch', except for the facade, which remained the same as before. Shortly after the reconstruction of the theater there was a new heading, to the director and screenwriter Ettore Margadonna, born in 1893 in Palena and particularly well known in the entertainment world in the thirties and forties of the twentieth century. The theater can be defined as a wedding favor, considering its size and the small number of its seats, just ninety-nine. Shaped like a horseshoe, with the audience, two rows of boxes and a gallery. Insufficient decorations, usual in this kind of atmosphere of the show, except the part where you open the stage, flanked by circular ovals and blind niches with round arches. This type of decoration recalls the outside of the building. In fact all around the front door of the theater there is a series of symmetrical plaster objects, ovals and circular, the center square opening. Taken together, these decorations enliven the façade design, distinguishing it clearly from the dwelling houses that flank the two sides. The front ends with an horizontal cornice supported by three shelves.
