Santa Giusta Church

Locality: Montebello Sul Sangro
TAG: Churches

Following a landslide that in 1887 destroyed most of the old village of the country then called "Goodnight", had to be rebuilt in the new town, a more secure place by earthquakes and subsidence of the land, including the Parish Church of Santa Giusta. The present building dates from the early twentieth century and in some way resembles the architectural style that the Church already had also when it has to be abandoned because of severely injured and damaged. The facade is framed by pilasters supporting a triangular pediment. The entrance to the church is flanked by two portals; above each of them opens a window of rectangular shape, closed by a round arch. Between these windows is a niche with the statue of Santa owner. On the left of the facade rises the bell tower divided into four levels from cornices. The three sections below are opened by round arches. The top floor comes with a clock. The crowning of the tower consists of a mixture of railings to form a canopy when the bells are suspended. The top of this plot is surmounted by a cross, pure iron.
