Lecceta di Torino di Sangro is a Regional Nature Reserve that covers about 180 hectares and is one of the few coastal relict woods on the Adriatic Sea. The wooded area mainly consists of Holm-oaks, Downy oaks and Turkey oaks, as well as many shrub species, typical of the Mediterranean scrub. The Reserve hosts the largest population of tortoises in the whole Abruzzo region. There is also a particularly rich bird population, with typical species such as Blackcap, Sardinian warbler, Eurasian Golden Oriole, Long-tailed Tit and European bee-eater. Visitors can enjoy three paths: Percorso Natura (Nature Path), Percorso Escursionistico (Excursion Path), Percorso Trabocco (Trabocco Path) Percorso MTB (MTB path). Available for visitors a wide picnic area. To visit: Tortoise Faunistic Area and the Mediterranean Garden.
