Welcome to Montelapiano
The town of Montelapiano lies to the left of the middle Valley of the Sangro, on the slopes of Monte Vecchio, along a rocky ridge formed by limestone marly rock. The earliest records of this small village of Abruzzo date back to the 16th century, of which still today is extremely visible the past, because of the excellent maintenance. Once feudalism was abolished, during the 19th century, the former Princes and barons, become wealthy bourgeois, acquired the best land at the expense of the peasants, who were forced to emigrate. Unfortunately were lost even the traces of the ancient castle, replaced by a Palace in front of the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua. By enjoying the view over the Valley, it is possible to overlook the belvedere surrounding the small and charming Palazzo Square, where it seems there was exactly the Palace or Castle, later demolished, enjoying a view that really leaves you breathless.
