Welcome to Colledimezzo
The town of Colledimezzo, perched on the Castellano hill, between Mount Butino and Monte Rinello, takes its name from the particular position in which it is located. The town was founded around the 10th century, although there have been found artefacts dating back to the Roman era. Colledimezzo underwent through many feudal lords, but from the mid-1400 until the extinction of feudalism it remained in the D’ Avalos family. The oldest part is the one located near the Church of Saint John the Apostle and evangelist, flanked by the Castle, which unfortunately after numerous restorations today is no longer recognizable in its original appearance. Other churches of interest from recent centuries are dedicated to San Rocco. Among the most important religious feast days are those for Sant'Antonio Abate on January 17th, for San Biagio February 3rd and for the Assunta and San Rocco on August 15th and 16th.
