The town of Torricella Peligna is located in front of the Maiella, between the valleys of the Sangro and Aventino rivers; it enjoys a wide view of the territory that extends around. Thanks to its panoramic position, 910 meters above sea level, to clean air and to its excellant climate, it has alwalys been the favorite place of many families that loved and still love to spend espescially the summer holiday season of the resort. It contributs on increasing the national attractions of the Pineta Comunale, situated in an other periphery of the urban center and renamed as a place of relax and hangout espescially among youngsters.  The pineta was born in 1922 from the idea of Antonio Porreca, who not only worked to design and realize it, but for many years personally took care of it; today the Pineta bears his name. Fellow citizen, collaborator and Porreca's successor in the custodity of the Pine Forest was the policeman Luigi Di Iorio.  Thanks to these two deserving citizens, who were able to involve all the inhabitants of Torricella, la Pineta soon became an oasis of arboreal great efficiency: curruntly it has become a veritable forest of pines, spruce and thuja, with facilities for parking, walks, games for children and youngsters. Tourists consider the Pineta as the symbol of Torricella, a place where it is possible to enjoy the cool summer and refresh from hard daily work. On the other hand, this evergreen oasis is a prescious source of oxygen for the inhabitants of the town.
